2 Million Minutes

-an average student will spend 2 million minutes in high school
- students in India and other countries have everything planned out for their future
- Students in those countries are more motivated to go to school\
-Students in North America are not alwats sure what they want to be, and most of them are not excited to come to school
-90% of students are taught by teachers that are not qualified to teach in that subject
-lots of students in India are pressured to do good in school. My parents do want me to do good in school and get a good education, but they do not pressure me. Just the opposite, they support me with my decisions
-I do all the homework I am assigned. Most of the time I am able to finish it at school
-I think that doing something just for fun for long amounts of time is a waste of time
-I really like that students in China study hard and try not to waste time
- The average american student spends about 1500 hours watching TV per year
-More chinese people study english then american people study chinese
-Knowing lots of languages gives you power

-WalMart doesn't pay their employees enough money
-Employees are forced to use social services because WalMart doesn't pay for their health care systems
-Emploeyees are forced to work over time
-They discriminate their workers
-Towns think that getting WalMart in their area will bring jobs and employment to their town
-http://www.carawbariverkeeper.org/
-workers in WalMart factories in China get treated very poorly
-WalMart pays their employees very little amount of money so they can make a bigger profit

No one should take advantage of other people, and become bigger by crushing other people.

The Sixth Sense

-Very mobile
-Works on every surface
- It can act as the sixth sense device

I think that this is an excellent idea. I hope that this idea can develop even more so that this can be available to everyone, for a cheap price.

Digital Nation

- all of us are surrounded by technology
- it's interesting how people can be in the same room, but also be in their own virtual world
-students are much more different than students 20years ago
- technology change the way teachers teach (ex. PowerPoint...)
-technology has it's own disadvantages. It can distract students when learning
-classic psychology says that no one can do two things at once
-multitasking is actually switching between tasks really fast
-multitaskers think that they are good at it, when in reality they are not
-on average students spent 50hrs a week on electronics
-there is twice as much brain activity when you are on google than when you read a book
-there are thousand of PC cafe in South Korea
-lots of people are addicted to video games
-some people even died in PC cafes because they didn't eat or drink anything
-I play video games sometimes just for fun when I have nothing else to do.
-In order to rescue people from Internet addictions, the government opened up rescue facilities
-I was 6 years old when I first used the Internet. There has always been a computer in my home
-There are few things that I know how to do that my parents don't know. For example: how to program .
-There are two terms people use with technology: digital natives and digital immigrants
-I think that our school is providing lots of opportunities for us to use technology
-The world has sped up in a lot of ways, but education hasn't
-At some point does the increasing use of technology diminish productivity
-Studies show that only about 6% of students come prepared to school
-Marc Prensky- digital natives and digital immigrants
-There are always gains and losses. Losses: people get distracted by technology. Gains: Technology makes life easier.
-If you don't keep up with technology a little bit, then you are really left behind
-Games create a new world where people experience stuff which they can't experience in real life
-Very good relationships are made through online gaming (ex.world of war craft, 2nd life)
-I used to play online games for a while, and I had made some good friends
-Industrial age (past) Digital Economy (present)
-Drones: Unmanned missiles. Popular in borders.
-There are some war gaming sites set up so that the kids can and learn and experience what war war is really about.
- Technology isn't good or bad, it's powerful

I think students would be able to learn best if they had access to technology all the time. I personally can type up notes much faster, than write them down. This saves a lot a trees, and the notes also don't get lost or damaged. I also think that online course for high school students should also be available. It would be much simpler to just be virtually in a classroom, but actually be at home. I believe that technology is a very power full thing if it is used correctly.
